Remember, there is no uninstall feature for Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3).

Our thoughts and recommendation: We will not install Service Pack 3 because it disables too many Office 2003 features. In fact this service pack release seems to have given us less features and in some instances actually removed functionality! Be warned it’s not just Access related, if you run Outlook as your mail client certain functionality has also crippled or simply removed.

*** Update, January 8, 2008: A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. The hotfix repairs some of the problems broken in Microsoft Access 2003 by SP3. You can download the hotfix from the following link which also contains more information of problems fixed.

We have done some testing at Meta Office and it does appear to have resolved issues in Microsoft Access that we were aware of that directly affected Take2 however, we are still of the mind to recommend avoid installing SP3 if you can – wait until the office patch is available thru Office Update or Windows Update.

Again, please remember that this “update” cannot be removed!

To remove Office 2003 service packs from your computer, you must remove all the Office 2003 programs and then reinstall all the Office 2003 programs from your original Office 2003 CD-ROM.
